StarWind does not require any additional hardware, it utilizes the existing Ethernet and IP network infrastructure and leverages existing storage hardware. StarWind is a hardware-independent, cost-effective and scalable storage management solution that enables the benefits of Storage Area Networking such as enhanced disaster recovery and increased regulatory compliance and does not consume additional resources on application servers. StarWind is an ideal choice for any sized business.

StarWind enables anyone to quickly install and configure an IP SAN solution that delivers immediate benefits allowing storage to be consolidated, virtualized and centrally managed. StarWind is an advanced, full-featured software-only iSCSI Target for Microsoft Windows. I'm guessing I'm screwed if it sees the device but no datastore and this is related to the fact that vCenter is down.StarWind Windows iSCSI Target 3.5.5 Build 20080930 Description: The "New Datastore" button allows me to look at the iSCSI device and completely wipe it but that's not what I want to do as I want my existing vCenter Server back. I can't for the life of me find the equivalent of "Add datastore"->"select existing datastore" and point to the iSCSI device/LUN. Both hosts see the LUN under Storage-Devices and see it as "normal, degraded" status. I removed the old iSCSI static targets from both hosts and added the new iSCSI target one the new starwind instance. So I'm logging into the host mgmt web consoles. The 2 vsphere hosts I can no longer access via vCenter because VC went down with the iSCSI LUN. I added the 250gb device to starwind and served it up iSCSI. Yesterday PC2 had a problem and starwind flaked out so I decided to just move the starwind flat file that is the LUN on PC2 to a new starwind instance on PC1. Both hosts were configured with iSCSI static target and saw the 250GB starwind LUN which I made into a Datastore and moved my vCenter Server into. I have a phy PC2 running Starwind with a 250GB LUN. My test lab is 2 vsphere 7.0u2 hosts running 1 each in VMware player on physical PC1.

This should be fairly easy but I can't figure it out since I'm new to vsphere: How to reattach an iSCSI disk which had an existing vSphere Datastore on it.
